New Treatment for Immunosuppressed Cats
Do you or a friend have a cat who tested positive for FeLV or FIV? At long last, there is a promising new treatment called LTCI that can strengthen your cat’s immune system by increasing the population of normal lymphocytes – a key player in a cat’s defense against infection and disease.
IMULAN BioTherapeutics has a conditional license for this promising medication. LTCI is a naturally occurring protein that stimulates a cat’s immune system to help fight infection. The treatment is injected under the skin once a week for the first month, and then monthly depending on the cat’s response and veterinary recommendations. Clinical studies are showing that some cats respond to treatment within the first few weeks, with reports of improved white blood cell counts and overall well-being.
The Cat Practice is a participating clinic, and we now have LTCI available. To find out more, call us at 310-823-9310 or visit the IMULAN website: www.IMULAN.com.

Acupuncture for Cats?
Absolutely! In fact, cats usually tolerate acupuncture very well.
An acupuncture session typically lasts 30 minutes while 10 to 15 stainless steel needles are placed along specific points on the cat’s body.
At The Cat Practice, we use acupuncture in conjunction with western medicine to help cats with a variety of medical conditions:
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- To relieve nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy
- Arthritis
- Kidney disease
- Allergic conditions such as asthma
In some cases, acupuncture may reduce the doses of other medications being used to treat a particular medical condition.
In the video above, one of our patients, Jack, receives acupuncture as part of his ongoing treatment for IBD. It is helping reduce his need for steroids.
We’re currently offering acupuncture for cats with Dr. Nicole Schiff, DVM CVA.
