Acupuncture for Cats?
Absolutely! In fact, cats usually tolerate acupuncture very well.
An acupuncture session typically lasts 30 minutes while 10 to 15 stainless steel needles are placed along specific points on the cat’s body.
At The Cat Practice, we use acupuncture in conjunction with western medicine to help cats with a variety of medical conditions:
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- To relieve nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy
- Arthritis
- Kidney disease
- Allergic conditions such as asthma
In some cases, acupuncture may reduce the doses of other medications being used to treat a particular medical condition.
In the video above, one of our patients, Jack, receives acupuncture as part of his ongoing treatment for IBD. It is helping reduce his need for steroids.
We’re currently offering acupuncture for cats with Dr. Nicole Schiff, DVM CVA.
